Elevating UX and UI in Real Estate

mr. Cooper, 2021

In 2021, a comprehensive redesign of the dashboard for Mr. Cooper, one of the largest mortgage servicers in the United States, was undertaken.

The project involved developing the dashboard from scratch for a company managing a servicing portfolio of approximately $500 billion and serving over 4 million customers.

This task included not only crafting a new design but also seamlessly integrating it into the existing framework, aiming to significantly enhance the user experience for a vast and diverse customer base.

Project Overview

The redesign of the Mr. Cooper dashboard aims to provide customers with a seamless experience, whether they access it by registering on the Mr. Cooper website or through an invitational email from a lending officer. This project is pivotal in enhancing the user interface and functionality for a diverse range of customers.

UX Goals

Customers should be able to:

  • Access Saved Homes and Saved Searches easily.

  • Monitor the current value of their property or properties.

  • Update personal information and set up email alerts (as part of the MVP) and SMS/text alerts (in post-MVP releases).

  • Navigate quickly between dashboard tabs, making changes and updates efficiently.

Business Objectives

From a business standpoint, the tasks are to:

  • Engage customers with property search functionality directly from the Dashboard, ensuring easy addition of properties to Saved Homes.

  • Maintain a high level of customer engagement with the Dashboard by showcasing benefits and bonuses.

  • Promote Mr. Cooper's real estate rewards services through strategic placement of an Ad block.

  • Design an interface that is intuitive, clean, and simple, catering to users ranging from 20 to 70 years of age.
