Human Capital Management SaaS B2B Platform
Sterling Talent Solutions, 2014
The redesign journey of the Human Capital Management Platform (HCMP) was a pivotal endeavor for TalentWise (later acquired by Sterling Talent Solutions), aimed at shifting from a developer-centric to an Agile UX-centric approach. The platform, a core revenue generator, required a significant overhaul to enhance user experience and meet evolving business needs.
Challenges and Context
The project involved tackling various challenges, including the manual setup process for each client, which consumed significant development time. Additionally, I addressed the legacy interface characterized by limited UX direction and an outdated technology stack. Moreover, there was a critical need to accommodate high-volume transactions for major clients such as Walmart and General Motors. To meet business objectives, my focus extended to expanding the customer base, enhancing existing user journeys, and introducing dynamic product offerings.
Research
I spearheaded in-depth field research initiatives, collaborating with RampGroup to gain insights at an accelerated pace. Through a mix of moderated and unmoderated UX studies, I delved deep into understanding user needs and behaviors. Additionally, I conducted thorough competitive and gap analyses, leveraging the findings to drive informed design decisions.
Design
I meticulously crafted user personas and fine-tuned use cases, accounting for various scenarios and user needs. Utilizing Adobe Creative Cloud and Axure, I developed wireframes and high-fidelity mockups to visualize the design concepts effectively. Additionally, I created clickable prototypes to demonstrate interaction design and collect valuable feedback from stakeholders and users alike.
Collaboration
I collaborated closely with product, development, and QA teams to ensure seamless alignment throughout the design and implementation process. Additionally, I worked hand in hand with marketing teams on strategic initiatives aimed at supporting the overarching business objectives.
Results
I streamlined and optimized the portal design tailored specifically for HR professionals, resulting in heightened usability and efficiency. Through enhancements to the overall user experience, customer satisfaction levels were notably elevated. Moreover, the successful integration of dynamic product offerings effectively addressed the varying needs of our diverse clientele. Notably, I conducted platform presentations for esteemed clients like Walmart and Southwest Airlines, effectively showcasing the revamped capabilities and receiving positive feedback in return.
Conclusion
The redesign of the HCMP platform represented a transformative journey, resulting in a more user-centric approach and tangible business outcomes. Collaboration across teams and meticulous design efforts paved the way for a modernized, agile, and customer-focused solution.
